The Coffee Enema

WE ALL START SOMEWHERE

I remember very vividly the first time I was told to do an enema. I was living in Hawaii and working with an Ayurvedic practitioner who was teaching a class on the cleansing art of Panchakarma. This was the first detox I ever did. Up until that moment I ensured I had a steady stream of toxins and mind altering substances pouring into my body on the regular. I was bartending at the time, working in a restaurant, and was embarking on my first ever Kitchari cleanse. Kitchari is an ayurvedic staple of cleansing- a mono diet of simply white basmati rice and yellow mung beans with digestive spices and lots of ghee (clarified butter). The basis of this incredibly boring food is to give all of the organs a gentle pause and recalibration to release toxins. It was supposed to be a two week process- but when I had my appointment, I was told my body needed More cleansing- another 2 weeks! The final phase of this process was to drink castor oil and milk and perform Basti- a sesame oil enema. I was not impressed. In fact, I was appalled.

During this month of intense detox, I recall what felt like many polaroids of memories just flying up and out of me. At this time I also experienced acupuncture for the first time, and seriously felt like someome pulled a demon out of me…. I now have come to understand that the “demon” was most likely old, unprocessed emotions laced with a ton of toxins and stagnant energy- parasitic in form, and very much wanting to keep me in a low vibrational state. So, I did the enema, and discovered- it wasn’t that bad!

INTRO TO COLONICS: NOT A CALLING

I tell you this back story simply to portray that we all start somewhere. It is incredibly intimidating and there are Many reasons to make excuses of why it is Certainly not the right time to insert an enema! Fast forward to 2024, when I was given the incredible job offer to attend Colon Hydrotherapy school. Now, this was definitely not what I imagined my Life’s Work to entail. However, I am always up for adventure, really respected the oppurtunity to work in this holistic center, and truly always want to help people. So, I completed All of the 6 months of online learning in depth about the digestive system, (at first I couldn’t even Look at a picture of the intestines) and for 10 whole days I performed about 35 colonics. It was incredbily stressful. Actually getting all up and personal, lifting cheeks, inserting nozzles, balancing pressure gauges, and seeing All the stuff- I can now truly say, it is incredibly worth tackling your fear. I did not wind up taking the certification test because I realized I am first and foremost a Bodyworker- and that was all just a little Too INTO the body as far as day in day out work. But I am BEYOND grateful for the experience and it Certainly clarified my mission.

Now, I am obsessed with coffee enemas. With all the “there’s a first time for everything” stuff behind me- this is a weekly, sometimes twice a weekly self care practice for me. Here is WHY:

Ok, so hopefully by now you are easing into the idea of all of this… So, here is where to start. Check out Happy Bum- there is a WEALTH of knowledge on this site + you can get everything all in one place. I started with Corvital and purchased organic green coffee plus the bpa free bucket. Now, you are armed with the goods- Here’s How: (Purely Educational)

Brew 3 T of coffee in a french press

Add enough water to the bucket so that it is 32 oz

Cool to 98 degrees

Lube up the tip with organic coconut oil

Release some of the water from the clamp to ensure there are no air bubbles

Lay on the bathroom floor on a towel (I also use a pillow) on your Right Side (Liver)

Release the clamp, insert into the anus & Hold for 15 minutes (it may take some time to reach this)

After the time, remove, sit on the toilet (I use a small step or “squatty potty”)

You can massage the stomach in clockwise direction a few times and I tap index fingers together/palms down (Large Intestine)

Clean up and I take some Chlorella or Liver Greens powder plus some Diatamaceous Earth for a Binder (as well as probiotic)

(Bonus: I turn my Red Light on during this for a self care sanctuary and then get on my Vibration Plate for lymph clarity.)
