Rhythm in Routine

What if the true key to healing is not what we are doing or taking, but rather, How we move through our day…

I’ve honestly been more focused on clearing environmental and terrain toxins over truly building. Despite the herbs and coffee enemas and castor packs- I still struggle with elimination and bloating. Real talk. But here is the thing, we are just wasting money if our nervous system doesn’t feel safe. Safety signals there is no threat, no hurry, no go go go & do do do. This doesn’t mean we have to be going through crisis. It simply means our habits as we move through our day signal stress, and in response to that, our body cannot heal (and naturally detox) as it’s built to do.

So take a minute and review your typical day…

How do you Feel when you wake up? What is the first thing you do - coffee, phone, emails?

What is your day like? Constant multitasking? Do you give yourself even 10 minutes to pause, to breathe, to read or meditate?

Do you have any rituals to wind down with? Or do you fall asleep late, scrolling, with the tv on?

How do you Nourish yourself? How do you align with the rhythm of the natural world?

How do you listen and connect with your body? Can you schedule Rest and give yourself a gentle time out- for time IN?

When we craft our day to honor our body’s wisdom and synch our schedule with Nature, big shifts happen. Fast.

When you wake up (preferably with the Sun) take a minute before jumping out of bed, and Feel into your body, what sensations do you feel? Scan your whole entire body, breath into your belly, your womb, your Root. Smile. Take 5 deep breaths and Feel your feet land on the floor, stretch into your fingertips, sink into your frame. Then, pause, begin to practice tuning in and asking what your body needs at this time. Seek the sensations, and begin to “parent” your body and develop a deeper awareness to give it what it is asking for. Reconnect tuning in to the body’s wisdom, to really Hearing your yes’s and no’s as well to strengthen boundaries. What is your tension, your cravings, your tiredness telling you?

My dear friend Annmarie Cantrell offers a fantastic nervous system reset program that I am doing right now. One of the lessons is “Am I safe at this moment” There IS enough time, enough predicability, enough warmth, enough nourishment and connection..

The way we begin our day- the first hour- is how we show up the rest of the day… “Predicable rhythm shifts the inner noise”

Here is what I have been doing this week, and I truly already have begun to feel real shifts, especially in my digestion.

Wake with the Sun, Feel and Breathe into my body. Sit up, meditate for 5 minutes, free write for a page if things feel a lot.

Drink a quart of warm lemon water with minerals, maybe add some spirulina or chlorella.

Eat a piece of seasonal fruit and a spoonful of almond/coconut butter (add maca, bee pollen, cacao & sea salt if feeling Extra)

Go for a walk to get that morning sunlight in my eyes to balance cortisol/melatonin connection along with hormones.

Nourish deeply: Eggs, liver sausage, kimchi, or steel cut oats with lots of seeds and yogurt.

Then 4-5 hours later lunch, same time spacing for dinner. Phone off after dinner, and out of the bedroom for sleep.

I aim to take an epsom salt bath to wind down then read a couple pages. No blue light. Dim (amber or red bulbs) lighting.

Fall asleep in gratitude. Begin the day in affirmation and visualization. No phone until I get outside, and I limit it there too

It is in developing predictable routine, aligning with the rhythm of the day, and building in small rituals throughout our day that truly signals safety and ease. The result is deep body awareness and great digestion and drive, and so much more!
